Do not Meausure Everone by the same standdards

Do Not Measure Everyone by the Same Standard A child who could not speak openly to anyone else would come to her. She understood their silence, listened patiently, and helped them find a way forward. But her care was not limited to children. She was always available to fellow teachers and other staff members too. Whether someone needed to be heard, was troubled, or wanted guidance, she supported them with attention and sincerity. Within the same working hours, she accomplished far more than many of us. I could see how her presence was becoming a source of support for children and adults alike. Yet she often arrived at school upset. When we spoke, I learned that, in her joint family, she was compared with the other women at home. One managed household tasks more neatly; another completed them more quickly. She was expected to perform equally well in every task. I would listen and wonder: why was a woman whose abilities were helping so many people repeatedly made to feel that she was falling short? The work of the women managing the home was valuable too. This was not about one kind of work being greater or lesser than another. The problem was assuming that everyone had the same strengths, time, and energy. She was human too. Understanding children’s difficulties, listening to others, and supporting them required energy. If some of her household responsibilities had been shared, and her particular strength recognised, she might have been able to do her work with greater peace of mind. That experience taught me something important about family: Making room for someone’s unique strength does not mean freeing them from every responsibility. It means sharing responsibilities with the understanding that people contribute in different ways. Sometimes, a little support from us enables another person to do their best work. And we become part of the good that their work brings into other lives. Do not expect someone to be like you in every area. Where their strength can enrich other lives, give them space, trust, and suppor — Hanifa’s Diary ghl-caption
